A Botulinum Toxin
Botox®, Azzalure®, and Xeomin® (anti-wrinkle) injections are available at Medskin Clinic to help reduce the signs of aging. During our aging years, repeated use of our facial muscles leads to unsightly wrinkles such as ‘frown lines’ and ‘crows feet’. Our bodies produce less collagen and elastin as we age, which causes these lines to become permanent. Eventually, we begin to look older as our bodies show the tell-tale signs of ageing.
Botox® Injections Are What They Sound Like.
By injecting the Botox® injections beneath the skin, the surrounding muscles are gently relaxed by a protein derived from chemically produced Botulinum bacteria. As a result of this reduction in muscle activity around the areas where the skin shows wrinkles and lines, the skin is prevented from creasing and has time to naturally restore its youthful appearance. As a result, the skin appears much younger and firmer.
Side Effects And Benefits
During frowning, for example, Botox is most effective on wrinkles that haven’t quite set — “dynamic” wrinkles. Dr. Monica Halem, MD, a dermatologist at Columbia University, says that if the muscles don’t move too much, wrinkles won’t form. She considers Botox a preventative.
You should discuss Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin with your doctor if you are breastfeeding, pregnant, or intend to become pregnant.
The side effects of the injection include headaches, bruising, and pain at the injection site. Less than 1% of patients experience drooping eyelids and eyebrows that return to normal over time.
Try it if you want:
Be yourself, don’t be a pill. If you’re taking aspirin or ibuprofen, you’re more likely to get a bruise at the site of the needle injection; these medications thin the blood and cause bleeding, resulting in the bruise. Two weeks before your treatment, stop taking the pills. Even supplements that are “natural” should be discussed with your doctor before treatment, because some (such as fish oil pills, gingko, or vitamin E) also thin the blood. Before your treatment, your doctor may ask you not to take those supplements.
Go easy on yourself. Talk to your doctor about looking more natural and expressive. You may need to adjust your dosage.
Keep your partying to a minimum. You shouldn’t get your injections at spas or parties. Only doctors who are board-certified in dermatology or plastic surgery should perform these wrinkle treatments.
